The restrictions are being eased out in a phased manner inKashmir and the situation in the Jammu division has been restored afterassessment by local authorities, asserted the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) onTuesday. Taking to social media platform Twitter, the MHA Spokesperson assuredthat the situation in the newly formed Union Territory (UT) is graduallyreturning to normalcy.The MHA said that the medical services are being providedto the people without any hindrance, adding that a total of 13,500 OutpatientDepartments (OPDs) have given requisite medical treatment to patients. Speakingon the availability of all medicines, including the life-saving medicines, theMHA said it has been ensured that every hospital across Kashmir has access tothem.
On the communication lines, the MHA asserted that thenational highway (NH) has been functioning normally, adding that 100 heavyvehicles carrying LPG and other essentials are plying daily. Speaking on the Independence Day celebrations in the UT, theMHA said that the full dress rehearsal for the event has been done in everydistrict of and necessary arrangements have also been put in place for thesmooth conduct of the same, it added.
Article 370 and 35A were scrapped on August 6 followingPresident Ram Nath Kovind signing the gazette after the resolution was passedby the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Jammu and Kashmir was also divided into twoUnion Territories. One Union Territory is Jammu and Kashmir with an assemblywhile Ladakh is another but without an assembly.
The MHA on Sunday released a list enumerating the measurestaken by the civil administration to restore normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir amidthe prevailing situation in the Valley. Prohibitory orders were relaxed for thefirst time on Friday ahead of Eid-ul-Adha to ensure that there was no hindrancefor the residents to celebrate the festival.On Sunday, the markets opened,although there were restrictions in some places. Travel restrictions were alsoeased in several parts of Srinagar, following which residents in the areathronged the streets/markets to buy essentials for the festival.
